Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) seeks to hire an outstanding BE/BC Internal Medicine Physician for a per-diem residency clinic precepting position with the Sutter Alta Bates Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program in Oakland, CA

Duties:

Residency clinic preceptors are a foundational element of graduate medical education that teach residents how to care for patients in the ambulatory primary care setting. Preceptors provide an important bridge allowing residents to grow and become practice-ready while ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. Preceptors should role model compassion, commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, professionalism, and a dedication to lifelong learning. Preceptors create an effective learning environment by acting in a professional manner and attending to the well-being of the residents and themselves.

The duties of the residency clinic preceptors include, but are not limited to:

• Precept and supervise residents in the primary care continuity clinic
• Ensure patients receive the highest quality of care
• Teach residents medical knowledge, clinical reasoning and practice skills necessary to assume a primary care role after residency
• Assist in resident evaluation
• Participate in the clinical management of the practice and appropriate clinical staff activities such as quality improvement activities
• Ensure that residents comply with all Sutter Health operational policies, procedures, and processes which include, but are not limited to those related to staffing, scheduling, registration, billing, collections, reporting, proper encounter documentation and coding
